Losing the wind from your sails

Have you ever felt cast adrift at sea? As though the wind has gone out of your sales and you’re not sure where to head next? You’re not alone.

I love this heartfelt blog post from Leadership coach and author Suzi McAlpine. It is an honest and thoughtful viewpoint on being in the dead calm and the discomfort we can feel when we’re somewhere between ‘no longer’ and ‘not yet’.

When I was on my career break I described it as ‘the messy middle’ or ‘the goo phase’. For many of us Gen Xers it’s how we’re feeling at a stage in our lives when we’re in re-set mode. Questioning what’s important and perhaps re-framing our focus from success to significance.
